If you studying about Indonesian National History, of course you know the name. Yes, Douwes Dekker. It is one  famous names, that involved in path changes at Indonesian history. Maybe not anyone know that the "Douwes Dekker" is not one person, but two person. It was Edward Douwes Dekker, and Ernest Douwes Dekker. The same written as E. Douwes Dekker, and sometimes mistaken by history teacher at school by same person.

Archipelago - League of The Islands

From Wikipedia, An archipelago ( ark-i-pel-ə-goh), sometimes called an island group, is a chain or cluster of islands. The word archipelago is derived from the Greek ἄρχι- – arkhi- ("chief") and πέλαγος – pélagos ("sea") through the Italian arcipelago. My country, Indonesia, is the biggest archipelago country in the world.  The other largest modern countries that are mainly archipelagos are Japan, the Philippines, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.

Flying Below the Radar

Say, I think it is not a good title in English since the translation in Indonesia is "Terbang di Bawah Radar" sounds more interesting to me. But its ok, it is just a title. Everything needs a name, by the way, this post has no relation with the last post My First Sunny Flight. It just about how is my condition now and that is why I called it as flying below the radar.

Until now i have taken flight for about 8 times. The first six flights are set after the sunset, so it is dark outside the window and nothing to see of course. And then come the 7th filght, around March 2011. Its my flight to Kaimana, West Papua. When i take off from Juanda airport at Surabaya, it still morning. And for the first time, i see everything from above..Awwww....

Have you ever ask a question about how can I capture a picture from a video player like Windows Media Player? I did yesterday, and finally know how to do it. For most "picture capture" in our computer, we use the print-screen key, then edit it for the thumbnails we need in some image editing software, like Paint or Photoshop. Twenty years have passed since I was 5 years old. It is when i have a hobby to write down anything. With a piece of paper and a pen or pencil, i write down, drawing everything, and I remember I make a series of comic books that never been published. It was fun, yes it is. Earth from Above (‘la Terre vue du ciel’)

First time I know about Yann Arthus-Bertrand is when I watch the television in Saturday noon (I don't remember the date, it is about 2007, maybe). It is when the television program "Earth from Above" at Metro TV aired. The program is about environment photography that takes from above, like the picture at right. The collection of this aerial photography is produced by Yann Arthus-Bertrand.

Can We Predict an Earthquake before It Happen?

Human technology today has advanced so far when we compare it with our technology a thousand years ago. But with such advanced technology, we never been able too predict one of the most devastating natural power, an earthquake, yet. Maybe now we already know that earthquake is caused by two reason. The movement of tectonic plates, and the movement of magma in volcanoes. And by that two reason, we can separate an earthquake into a two types, tectonic earthquakes and volcanic earthquakes.

Bukit Barisan Mountains

The first time I decided to travel to Sumatra Island was to visit a friend in Medan, North Sumatra, an old friend i think. The plan is to take a flight from Surabaya, transit to Jakarta then continued to Medan. But I cancelled that plan, and decide to take a road trip. Yes, obviously somehow, I must travel from Surabaya to Jakarta first, and take a ferry ship from Merak (West Java) to Bakauheni (Lampung). And...that is a very long trip. Yes, I enjoyed and loved it! Not because the longer time it takes, but because of the view and the scenery that i can get throughout the travel.

2012 : Plan, Prepare, Perform, Execute, Evaluate, Evolve

As we continue our journey in 2012, there is one thing that we must consider for the first part of the year. As I have mentioned before, every year have its own motto. In 2008, I have "Watch, Learn, Improve". At 2009, "Be, Think, Inovate" and so on. So this year, the year of 2012, I have created a motto. PPPEEE, it is Plan Prepare, Perform, Execute, Evaluate, Evolve. It consist six word with its own meaning, and it is a part of a big picture.

The First English Blog Post

Happy New Year to everyone on Earth. Yes, i am writing in English language! Let celebrate it! Hurray! Um, ah, this is my first post with English language, and I hope this is not the last one, lol. Really, it took some time to write in English than to write something in my language, Indonesian, so forgive me if i have some misspelling or some grammar error..
Ok, the first thing i want to say is that now we are in the year of 2012, and i want something new, of course everyone do. And one of the new things i want is i want to write my blog in English, so that more people can understand what i am trying to say.

Benda apa yang paling banyak diminta oleh anak kecil ketika menghadapi suatu perayaan tahun baru? Terompet? Kembang Api? Hadiah? Jawabannya memang bermacam macam, tapi satu hal, perayaan tahun baru tanpa kembang api terasa hampa. Kembang api seperti menjadi penanda meriahnya suatu perayaan, karena tidak hanya bisa dilihat atau dirasakan oleh satu atau beberapa pasang mata, tapi ribuan bahkan jutaan. Meluncurkan sebuah kembang api bagaikan melukis di angkasa.

Januari 2012

What is the importance of Januari 1st? Of course it is the first day on every year, and it is great to have a good start. On January 1st we can have a year resolution. What we have to do this year, what is our value for this whole year and what we want to achieve at the end of the year. I have chosen one motto for this revival year of 2012. "Plan, Prepare, Perform, Execute, Evaluate, Evolve" That is my motto for this year, what is yours?
